This is a true
story that shows the key role dreams and intuition can play in our
emotional healing as it outlines the emotional struggles of a man
coming to terms with his grief over his mothers early death from
alcoholism. Setting the tone with a series of waking life and dream
experiences, the story shows the conflict that adult children of
alcoholics often encounter when trying to resume a normal life after
the alcoholic is no longer present in their lives. Covering a twenty-year
time frame while using dream images as a background, the story illustrates
how emotional healing is often multi-layered and not as straightforward
as it may seem. However, with dreams often comes emotional insight.
This emotional awareness propels the author into various situations
that slowly lead him to a path of accepting his past and confronting
some of his most painful memories of life with an alcoholic parent
while at the same time allowing him to teach family and friends
work with their dreams as well.
While primarily a story about the healing nature of dreams and dreamwork,
the book also touches on subjects such as adult children of alcoholics,
recovery issues and shamanism.

I liked this book and found it to be a moving Hero's Journey. It shows us how we can listen to our dreams, as guidance in our lives. It has much to offer to all dreamers.
