About the Book
|
This
book is for people who have computer knowledge and experience with
Microsoft® Windows 95/98/NT and Microsoft® Word, but want to learn
about Adobe FrameMaker®.
FrameMaker for Windows uses the same Ctrl X, Ctrl C, and Ctrl V that
you've used in the past. See! You already know a huge chunk of FrameMaker.
Graphics and tables are handled just about the same in FrameMaker
as they are in Word.
Sample Chapters:
+ The Opening Screen
+ Body and Master Pages
+ Document Elements and Structure
+ Using Structure to Your Benefit
+ Graphics and Tables
+ Publishing the Book
FrameMaker with SGML is nothing more than Word with a structure view.
I have used FrameMaker on tech writing jobs for some great companies,
and I even bought a copy for myself. I like FrameMaker. But, I make
these statements only to destroy the industry myth that FrameMaker
is so difficult and that companies don't want to spend the money to
train you. I'm sure you've heard the same story that I have. "You
can't get the job unless you know FrameMaker."
Fortunately, I was hired by a company because of my product knowledge,
and the manager handed me a training guide. In two days, I was writing
documentation in FrameMaker! So it is not the monster industry wants
you to believe.
I've written this book as if I were sitting with you at your computer
in a training session to give you a head start in understanding this
powerful documentation program!
