Sarah Hawthorne has no idea her life is going to change when she accepts a seasonal job working on Nantucket Island. As an artist, Sarah is devoted to her work - until she meets John Jarad, a handsome, local police Lieutenant!

THE NATURE OF THE GRAVE introduces John and Sarah Jarad, a newly-married couple. John is deeply-rooted in the charming island home his family helped to settle; Sarah is an off-island artist from Pittsburgh who works on Nantucket one summer, falls in love, and decides to stay.

While exploring John's family history, Sarah reactivates interest in his younger brother's unsolved disappearance. A great-uncle's surprising bequest brings family tensions to the surface, and the sudden reappearance of the missing brother shakes the Jarad family tree.

A string of mysterious deaths ensue as John and Sarah forge their investigative talents to solve an ancient island secret!

Packed with engaging characters and a roller-coaster plot, THE NATURE OF THE GRAVE promises to be the perfect summer vacation beach read.

Reviews
The dialogue is fresh, the description of Nantucket spot on, and the characters (especially John and Sarah) very appealing. ... the plot ... was particularly complex and well put together.
- Diana Vickery, Cozy Library
This was one of the best books I've read in a long time. I highly recommend it.
- Dawn Dowdle, Mystery Lovers Corner
I read this book in two days at the beach. I could not put it down. Dreamt about the characters ... it was simply a GREAT story.
