The New York State School Counselor Association is pleased to offer this final version of The New York State Model For Comprehensive K-12 School Counseling Programs. Formerly know as the New York State Comprehensive School Counseling Program, The New York State Model is the result of input from countless school counselors and counselor educators from around the state. The New York State Model is the centerpiece of NYSSCA's effort to transform professional school counseling in our state. In support of this document, the Association also offers a series of activities manuals providing ready-made developmental activities for counselors to use in their work every day. Why does school counseling need transformation? That is what this publication is all about. As education changes around the state, as the demands on both students and educators increase, our profession must transform itself to address those changes. The pages that follow offer cutting edge theories on building and managing school counseling programs in schools around the Empire State.
