Memories of Kate

The fascinating, enigmatic Kate – Did anyone ever really know her? Three people thought they did.

John – He is thirty-nine years old and a sophisticated bachelor when he meets the woman who could arouse his deepest passions. As his narrative unfolds, he describes his initial dilemma in wanting both a professional and intimate relationship with Kate. Control in their relationship shifts from one to the other over time, however, it is their sexual need for one another that binds them together more strongly than their love. Annie – Kate’s daughter speaks from the perspective of a young woman who fondly remembers some of her mother’s unique qualities and the times they shared, but also struggles to understand her complexities.

She reveals to Sam most of what she is unwilling to tell others – often surprising and eventually propelling Sam down an unexpected life’s path.

Set in 1980 and covering a fifteen-year period, each recounts the story of how this woman changed their life forever.
