Who Done It? Three Mind-boggling Mysteries is a collection of three short mysteries.
The first mystery is “Kissem Wind.” The word is New Guinean, which means to take a breather. Despite the origin of the name, the story is set in a log mansion on a private, wooded island in Wisconsin. The mansion should be a place or relaxation, but a bride wants to get her marriage annulled to an alcoholic husband and survive boat explosion, falls, and killers with guns. She doesn’t get everything she wants.
In “Maze”, the second mystery, the police are not sure if it is a suicide made to look like a murder or if it is truly a murder by one of the three main suspects. They all had good reasons to want the man dead. The lead police investigator also would like to see some of his colleagues dead. Trying to solve the suicide/murder and plotting his homicidal desires makes interesting twists and turns in his life. Prairie dogs and the Minnesota state bird, the loon, plus potato roots and lilies of the valley all add to the mix. Also included is an archaic law, no longer recognized, that could be used to keep someone from inheriting. Do you think the police arrested the right person at the end?
In the last short mystery, “Enduring Love”, a very successful architect is murdered. Because she was not able to fulfill her destiny she was allowed to live in someone else’s body for a short time. Convincing that person to share her body was only the beginning of her problems. How do you solve your own death? The confusion grows as she befriends a man who knows the woman she appears to be, and later becomes a suspect in her own murder. Solving her own murder is an easy problem compared with falling in love after death.
