About the Book
After returning from World War I, Chicagoan John Harrod faces an alternate future where mob enforcer Angelo Norticelli murdered John’s grandfather, Ray Eldridge, over stolen ledger pages Ray allegedly took from the Stardust Casino counting room and gave to John in 1976. Since John was only a child back then, it isn’t until 1993 when Angelo finally faces John and demands the return of the ledger pages along with a mysterious key. Through his divine grants, John travels back in time to the mob-controlled Las Vegas of 1976 to determine Ray’s involvement with Angelo.

John’s appearance in 1976 garners quick attention from Chicago mob boss, Joe Delmonico, who believes John holds something vital to his organization’s existence. While tracking the mob’s activities in Chicago and Las Vegas, the FBI discovers John’s sudden presence on the Las Vegas casino scene and agent Thomas Kendall demands to know his intentions.

Though uncertain of who to trust more, the FBI or the Chicago mob, John must also confront his feelings for a Las Vegas prostitute, help Ray with his dream to build the first Las Vegas megaresort, and cope with an inexplicable curiosity for N.C. Wyeth paintings.

While burdened with human-related problems, John learns the evil angels Turel and Samyaza hold all but the last page of the Book of Ancients and he must get it before they find out his true nature and destroy him.
