About the Book
|
Following Messiah Proposes and The Becoming Bride, The Faithful Wife uses the Beatitude illustrations in The Sermon on the Mount as practical applications. The Beatitudes are like sparkling diamonds. The Illustrations are its facets. Each stone is cut to catch the light and show off its different faces. Truth becomes more evident through examples.
Jesus shares His insight about human nature. His applications begin like this: “You have heard that it was said by them of old time, but I say… ” He sweeps aside the old traditions of men. He clears up any confusion about the conditions for entering His kingdom, helping us to see things more clearly and completely. Jesus is the perfect illustration of a man fit for nothing but the kingdom.
God expects our loyalty, our allegiance and our growing up according to His blueprint. Growing begins with belief (POOR). Childhood develops in innocence (MOURN) and obedience (MEEK). Adolescence refines our appetite (HUNGER and THIRST). Adulthood involves industry (MERCIFUL), intimacy (PURE) and propagation (PEACEMAKER). Finally through death and rebirth we’re integrated into God (PERSECUTED).
God also expects us not to commit spiritual adultery. Scripture asks a most vital question: “Will Jesus find faith on the earth when He returns?” He finds His Faithful Wife. She has kept covenant and not forsaken His word. He is coming for her to sow her into the new earth He will give her a double portion of His Spirit, preparing her to birth and nurture their children.
